General Description: MaGrann Associates, a New Jersey-headquartered Engineering and Building Science firm, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide detailed mechanical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design. Candidate must be able to perform all technical functions associated with MEP design including load calculations, layout, sizing and system integration. Major Purpose: MaGrann Associates is a green building and engineering firm headquartered in Mount Laurel, NJ. They are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to provide electrical design services on a variety of multifamily residential, mixed use and commercial building projects to support our new construction design and existing building retrofit projects.  The Engineer is responsible for the preparation of contract plans and specifications, often for several projects simultaneously. This encompasses advanced calculations, systems analysis, quality control of finished projects, and field/construction coordination activities.  This position requires expertise in the design of power distribution systems, lighting systems, communication systems, and safety systems, including collaboration with other disciplines and engineers. Experience with a virtual work environment is also beneficial. ​ The position reports to the Operations Manager, Multifamily/Design. ​ This position is based in our office in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Primary Responsibilities: Directs the production of construction documents (drawings and specifications) for new buildings and for renovations and additions to existing facilities Supervises technical work of designers and engineers. Assigns tasks to designers, engineers, and/or CAD Specialists. Reviews all work completed by designers, engineers, and/or CAD Specialists. Writes specifications and ensures coordination of their preparation with other disciplines. Design and layout electrical devices, light fixtures, and equipment under supervision. Provide technical assistance to clients and associates. Perform initial site investigations and observations of work done by the installing contractor(s) related to contracted projects Provide coordination of project designs with other disciplines Maintain assigned project schedules Develop and maintain positive client relationships Additional duties as assigned Able to develop and maintain strong client relationships Assists with the preparation of project fee cost estimates. Contacts utility authorities for confirmation of availability, coordination of service entry points, and confirming facilities required for obtaining service from the utility. Consults with local regulatory agencies for conformance of design standards. Coordinates project scheduling with Project Managers. Completes details and advanced calculations. Conducts system analysis and comparisons with regard to economical and functional considerations. Ensures coordination and review of shop drawings and field problem solutions, including preparing field reports and coordination of all elements. Is actively involved in professional and trade associations and societies. Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Minimum of 5 years engineering experience required in the area of electrical power distribution, fire alarm and lighting PE certification required. LEED certification preferred Valid driver’s license required. Familiarity with building energy efficiency and building science Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit Strong problem solving skills Familiarity with Visual Lite software is a plus Experience in on-site surveying Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills All qualified candidates will be considered.
